My bed

Tracey Emin created her interesting piece – My Bed, in 1998.  It was basically a bed, with ruffled, slept in bed sheets, duvet cover and two pillows, all in white. Other bedroom objects including slippers and a cuddly toy, also featured.  It grabbed the attention of art critics and the media, primarily because the bed sheets were stained with bodily secretions, and along with the slippers and cuddly toy, appeared objects such as condoms, empty booze bottles, and blood stained knickers. Shortlisted for the Turner prize in 1999, this edgy piece of “art” showcased Emin as a young British artist, about to make her mark.
